Hi, I'm Roberta! I'm an ICU nurse of 20+ years, and I'm also a life-long nail polish enthusiast. I launched Smudge because I witnessed a critical need for customers to receive self-care in a safe, clean, and inclusive environment. In early 2023, I decided to follow my dreams and Smudge was born! Immediately, my vision and mission were clear: To provide vibrant, warm, and art-forward cultured experiences unlike any nail salon in Sacramento. 

Trust me, the idea of opening a non-toxic, vegan-leaning salon was scary! Fortunately through Smudge's social media engagement, it was clear that Sacramento was rallying around my dream! As a result, I've been featured on the Full Circle podcast, interviewed by Sacramento Business Journal, attended multiple cosmetology job fair events, and was interviewed for Bold Journey magazine. 

I'm proud to announce that Smudge will feature Halal-certified nail polish for our Muslim customers. Beauty and inclusivity can be present while being true to religion and culture.
